Digium sent a press release today stating that the company has shipped it's 4th million port. See
press release here.
You can tell that Digium is really trying to make up their lost ground to Fonality and it shows. Digium has re-directed most of its efforts to pushing their Switchvox systems into the market. I've seen a dramatic up tick in the number of Switchvox opportunities that come our way so Digium is obviously doing a good job. Admittedly Fonality does a solid job at marketing its products but it's nice to see Digium stepping it up.
One thing I like is how Digium has not bastardized its partner program quite like Fonality. Digium almost entirely sells through their partnership channels and I like to believe that Digium partners know their products a whole lot better than Fonality resellers. It seems as though Fonality is more than willing to sign up any reseller, even the homeless man who sits at the corner of my NYC block trying to peddle stolen batteries. I think the ridiculousness of the Fonality partner program can be derived by their latest
press release which mentions that Fonality has more than 7,000 data VARs who have signed onto the Fonality reseller program yet Fonality only has 5,000 commercial customers. More resellers than commercial customers, how interesting.....
My appologies to any Fonality resellers but seriously, you should take another look at Digium and Switchvox and see if they can't satisfy your customers just as well as Fonality/Trixbox, because I'm sure Digium can. I welcome any feedback on the subject of Fonality vs Digium reseller programs.
