I thought we could have a discussion about what people hope to achieve with Asterisk - as I'm here... I'll post first...Get the ball rolling.

I'd like to mould the Asterisk system to form a household communications framework - to provide facilities such as :

*Automatic Do Not Disturb
*Answerphone (remotely administerable) - email messages to me at work?
*Call Fowarding (to mobile?)
*Reminder calls (a nice phone call from Asterisk informing me of upcoming birthdays) to remind me to buy a card or whatever.
*Alarm - Dial my mobile at a specific time (wake me up) - hang up on answer.

All of this to be configured and controlled by a web interface.

we can talk about it. you can just make use of PHP scripts plus the asterisk manager.

Thanks for your response... I would have responded sooner, but It's been a bit crazy here... The desktop I'm using at work is soo locked down that javascript fails...

I have a long asterisk session planned for Saturday / Sunday (as soon as the missus has gone to work!).

I'm planning to install asterisk and to have a play with all of the options.

To do reminder/alarm calls write a web app that stores the details in a db then use a cron to write a call file when the time arrives. Works for me fine, I get a nice reminder call at 7:30am each weekday.
